FAQ
Many mental health issues can be addressed in a 14 to 28-day rehabilitation program, however, duration is not the only factor to consider. We customise each program depending on a guest’s condition i.e. intensity of therapies and need for increased onsite support. Generally, if you have been dealing with your health issue for over a decade or more you might consider a longer program to give yourself enough time to effect lasting permanent change before you re-enter your life and start to apply the techniques you will learn in the program.
Conditions such as chronic alcohol abuse, long-term heavy drug addiction, extreme anxiety, crippling depression or overwhelming PTSD may need a longer program. Discuss your personal needs with one of our admission consultants as they have a comprehensive understanding of the customised holistic solutions that will suit your specific needs and achieve the best outcome.
The treatment you receive is customised to your individual needs which will be assessed and tailored by our team of highly qualified and experienced psychotherapists.

Palladium Private was founded in 2003 and has provided mental health programs to over 5,500 clients. This experience has given us information, data and feedback that has guided the evolution of the program, inclusions and structure over time. It is this unique combination of individual therapies, group integration work and the community therapy retreat setting that makes our approach successful at making permanent changes to people’s lives. The quality and experience of the staff who deliver the Palladium Private program is what sets it apart from other treatment facilities. We welcome you to visit the Palladium Private retreat before committing to a program for yourself or a loved one, if you are able to. Meet and speak to our staff and see for yourself why we are effective at connecting wtih, nurtuting and healing our clients.
At the heart of the Palladium Private program is a cognitive approach, which means it examines an individual’s thinking patterns and core beliefs that drive unwanted responses and actions. Our qualified therapists seek to modify or change the individuals non-beneficial thought processes in relation to historic, current or future events in their lives. In successfully doing so, this reduces or eradicates stress, triggers and unwanted behaviours.
Starting from early infancy, each child begins absorbing information through witnessing and experiencing the world as they perceive it, then interpreting what people, situations or sensations bring safety and which bring fear or danger. Conclusions are drawn in early childhood about who we are as an individual, member of a family and member of society.
At Palladium Private, we teach that the belief system – which is unique to each person, acts as the direct platform for our thinking patterns, responses, and behaviours. We refer to this process as the mind-body connection. Not only do we live according to our belief system, but it often goes unexamined or unquestioned throughout the entirety of most people’s lives.
The main conclusion governed by individual’s unbeneficial belief system is that our life should be unfolding and presenting in a certain way in order to confirm our self-worth. At the point an individual concludes that their life path is interfered with, faulty or unattainable, then stress begins to develop. Generally followed by unwanted or damaging behaviours, poor personal choices, and/or extreme coping strategies.
The Palladium Priate retreat setting allows our qualified therapists and retreat staff to work with you day in, day out with no distractions or triggers from the outside world. For many, this is the first time in their life they have had such focus and time to work solely on themselves. The relaxed retreat environment encourages the cognitive techniques to work their way into the brain for permanent change – with the impact being far greater than non-residential cognitive work.
We have been developing and evolving programs since 2003 at Palladium Private and in this time, over 5,500 clients have completed a program. Whilst we certainly do not claim 100% success rates in treating our clients (who often present with very intensive issues), more than 80% give their Palladium Private program a highly successful rating – meaning the program addressed the core reason why the person undertook a Palladium Private program. Over 85% of all clients who completed their program at Palladium Private state they would highly recommend the program to friends and family.
We are a private mental health care centre with no government funding. Whilst the amount charged for a Palladium Private program may seem high, they are serious health conditions our clients are suffering with.
We employ highly qualified and experienced experts in their respective specialisations and provide an extensive and varied program of activities and therapies that is unique to any other on offer in Australia.
Whilst one can compare a program’s duration, the location, the physical retreat; you can’t compare the program content and delivery itself. Our qualified staff work in teams selected for your own case, which makes this combination only available at the Palladium Private.
We have been operating for more than 19 years and have had over 5,500 clients serviced by our team. There are various options for partial-funding of our programs. Please see the Program Fees page for more information, or phone and speak to one of our Admissions Consultants for more details.
There are three main components of our ‘BioPsychoSocial’ approach that we work on simultaneously:
Evidence Based Psychotherapy – Our program is designed by our Program Director Emanuele Latino, an APRHA-registered Psychologist with many years experience in mental health and an extensive range of therapeutic specialities. Our therapeutic team consists of PACFA-registered Psychotherapists who have extensive experience in trauma, depression, anxiety, PTSD mood disorders and addiction. They apply evidence-based tools and techniques to work on the mind to change unwanted behaviours that include but are not limited to; REBT, CBT, ACT, Schema Therapy, EMDR, Gestalt Psychology, Neuropsychology, NLP, EFT and more. All psychotherapy sessions are delivered one-on-one with each guest. A period of psychotherapy is continued after the residential program as part of iur Aftercare Program. See the About Us page for more information on our therapy team’s qualifications and specialities.
Life Skills and Personal Development – We provide facilitated communication and topic groups that help a guest build confidence, relate to other’s experiences and responses, witness growth and breakthroughs, and seek support to prepare for the future. Some of the topics covered are; self-acceptance, self-worth, social connection, acceptance of others, gratitude and assertiveness.
Personal development is continued after the residential program via a private online Facebook support group to help reinforce residential learning. Past guests have unlimited access for an unlimited time going forward.
Exercise, Nutrition, Relaxation and Detoxification – Our program includes a variety of holistic stress reduction and positive mood therapies such as mindfulness, yoga, personal training, nature/beach walks, massage therapy, art therapy, gardening, team building and weekend workshops. These therapies are a combination of both one-on-one and group activities.
The combination of these components in a residential program is incredibly effective. Treating the body, mind and soul at the same time is what holistic BioPsychoSocial therapy is all about. Guests will have the chance to concentrate on their whole health for an extended period of time, surrounded by supportive, experienced people that are focused on a guests’ success using natural, effective, replicatable methods.
Our comprehensive BioPsychoSocial treatment programs will treat the entire mind, body and soul with a multi-disciplined approach.
We also access a wide range of natural therapies, experienced practitioners and consultants to tailor each guest’s unique program.
Availability changes from week-to-week so please contact our kind and understanding admissions consultants. They will speak to you confidentially about which rehabilitation program will be right for you. When you have committed to a program and are dedicated to improving the long-term success of your recovery, we will begin your admissions process.
We have just a handful of guests at any time, with no more than 15 places available, making your time with us comfortable and personable. We find that guests bond and connect with others naturally during their stay and develop friends for life. The community therapy approach we provide at Palladium Private is a key part of each guest’s recovery. Seeking support, observing and relating to other’s stories, sharing recovery tools and techniques – all this is achieved by keeping group numbers limited to 15 so clients can feel connected, supported and engaged.
All our accommodation options are stand-alone cabins with private bedrooms. We do not offer dorm-style accommodation. Guests have the choice of a private or shared cabin, depending on their preference.
Generally, no but if you have a strong case for access this can be discussed with the Retreat Team.
Located in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland on the outskirts of Maleny, Palladium Private offers 20 acres of wide open spaces and accommodation for up to 15 guests in 9 cabins dotted around the retreat.
The main building is a converted farm house with two swimming pools, steam room, gym, large meals area and relaxation lounge. There is also wildlife in the surrounding areas and lake, including turtles, platypus, geese and more!
The property is home to a long-established orchard with abundant citrus fruit and avocado trees (when in season).
These open spaces help to remove all your daily triggers and stress, so for the first time you can focus just on you. It’s important that you’re able to retreat to your cabin or a peaceful spot on the property for alone time after therapy sessions or to enjoy reflection time.
